PSG IMSR is known for its large, grand canopy of trees, offering shade to the students and faculty who walk beneath them every day. Carrying forward this tradition of growth and nourishment, on 5th June 2026, the Youth Red Cross organized a Tree Plantation drive. This initiative gave back a little green to the earth that has given the college so much shade in return.
"The Tree Plantation Drive was a memorable experience that combined environmental responsibility with teamwork and hands-on learning. We started our journey at 5:30 AM and travelled towards the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve along with Dr. Tolstoy and Dr. Ramakrishnan. The day involved much more than simply planting saplings; we actively dug pits using kadaparai and manvetti, carried water, planted the saplings and worked together to complete the activity. The emphasis on active participation made the experience more meaningful, as everyone was encouraged to take initiative and contribute rather than merely pose for photographs. With food arrangements, unpredictable weather and plenty of teamwork and laughter, the long day passed with a sense of shared purpose. By the time we returned around 7 PM, we were physically exhausted but genuinely satisfied. The drive left us with not only a contribution towards the environment but also a memorable experience of teamwork, responsibility and collective effort." - Nihar Shagim, YRC Secretary
