FALLACY

Will the longingness ever end?
Knew every alley, every friend
New games and fights scraped knee gold
A whole lot of stories to be told
I pretend to know it all
The way the first monsoon would fall
The smell of the first few raindrops hitting the soil aloof
My memory is a solid proof
At school, I learnt about the world’s tone
After school, went back to my own
Together with loved ones to heal
Changing cities felt like no big deal
Then, a day arrived with an uncanny light
Seemed like an unfamiliar sight
The train’s whistle intersected the dawn
Signalling to move ahead on my own
Trolley bags packed with clothes neatly tied
A few lovely photos tucked in side by side
A future wild and free ahead
Some words are unsaid
I think about home’s Thulasi plant growing in the terrace
Its colour, scent, strength and quiet grace
Bittersweet everytime, the leaving aches
The long goodbyes that memory makes
Lecture halls filled with unique names
Found some new friends who are like burning flames
I learn to count my courage slow
But can’t let unfinished memories go
Sometimes I feel homesick out of the blue
And then realize how lucky I am to reminisce every hue!
When weekends take me back in time
I blend words into a novel rhyme
Big dreams or Thulasi?
Oh! this debate might be a fallacy
Carry home in seams and all
And also look forward to the future’s call
The path ahead wears sharper light
Face it and it will turn clear and bright
Go explore the world like the birds in flight
And, keep chasing your dreams even at that height.
